"Getting Back in the Saddle"

We went to the Shrine Circus this weekend, had a great time, and learned a little about Paige. Thanks to some great friends we were lucky enough to get to sit in a suite, which was great. The girls were free to walk and roam without having to sit still for the 3 hour show. They ran back and forth into the suite and back out to watch over the railing. It was a perfect set up for 2 and 3 year olds. Not to mention mommies and daddies who could relax without getting cramped in a small seat while trying to keep the kids entertained! Thanks Ang and the rest of your family!

Now to the lesson about Paige.

Before the circus started Paige spotted the Pony Rides. She was very excited and wanted to ride the horsies really bad. So down we went . Paid $7 for a ticket and waited in line. She was very excited.Handed the lady her ticket, got into the ring and waited as she was next in line. When daddy told her it was her turn, she actually started shaking because she was so scared. Daddy tried to lift her on and she froze. Her arms and cheeks were bright red from fear, and needless to say she didn't go through with it. We returned our ticket and got our $7 back.

We went back up to the suite and watched the 1st half of the show. When intermission came, she went up to Daddy and told him she wanted to try it again. She promised that she wasn't scared anymore. The way she said it made me think she'd been thinking about it the whole 1st half of the circus. We decided to take her even though the lines were 10 times as long just to let her face her fear. I waited in the ticket line while her and daddy waited in the Pony line. I think Daddy was more nervous than her, wondering if she would go through with it.

She got to the front of the line and handed the lady her ticket. Went to stand by the pony to wait for the next turn. Without looking back she got on that horse, held onto the saddle, and even looked like she was enjoying herself. I was so proud of her because I knew how scared she really was, I could see it in the hives she was giving herself. After she got off the horse she went to the horse's face and just looked at him, patted his nose, and walked off. Way to go Paige! Mommy was so proud of you, but I think Daddy was even more proud of his little girl!
